Dr Hakim has co-authored 5 medical books and published chapters in several Rheumatology and General Medicine textbooks. With over 100 publications, including original papers, his research interests include the epidemiology of, and outcomes of treatments in various areas of rheumatic disease. Dr Hakim has also published online learning articles, and worked with television and radio on articles related to the hypermobility syndromes.
Dr Hakim is also an experienced Chief Investigator in phase II and phase III clinical trials, and has a certificate in Translational Medicine from Edinburgh University.
In September 2018 Dr Hakim was honored to receive the position of Adjunct Associate Professor in Medicine, Pennsylvania State University, USA.
