Based in London, UK, Dr Hakim is a Consultant Rheumatologist, and an Associate Professor in Medicine. He runs a small and highly specialised private practice clinic in complex hypermobility-related disorders for those aged 18 years and above. Dr Hakim’s time is split equally between clinical practice, education and training, clinical research, and charity work. In 2018 Dr Hakim was appointed Adjunct Associate Professor in Medicine, PennState University, USA. He also joined the international charity The Ehlers-Danlos Society where he continues to support education and research internationally in the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders. In 2022 Dr Hakim was appointed Honorary Consultant at UCLH, London, where he supports clinical research.

From Oct ’12 to Dec ’17 Dr Hakim was a Board member to the CWHHE Clinical Commissioning Group Collaborative in Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow, & Ealing.

Co-author of 5 medical books, chapters in major Rheumatology textbooks, and with over 100 publications, including original papers & reviews, Dr Hakim publishes & teaches widely in his field, and in September 2018 was honoured to be appointed Adjunct Associate Professor in Medicine, Pennsylvania State University, USA.
Charities & Clinical Leadership.
Dr Hakim was Trustee & Chief Medical Advisor to The Hypermobility Syndromes Association (HMSA) between 2012 and 2018; and is now a member of the Medical & Scientific Board, The Ehlers-Danlos Society, and their Director of Education. He was from inception through to 2019 the Chair, and a faculty teacher with Pfizer iQ Leaders.
